2005 Updates

  • December 27: I've finished Cat!
  • December 5: I've started Just Nan's Catnip Tea, and made a little more progress on Cat.
  • November 26: Just Nan's Star of Wonder is started and finished!
  • November 23: I finished Blackberry Jam last night!!
  • November 21: Another break between updates, but I have been busy! Merrick's robes are now complete, and he has a cool little red octopus. Summer Maiden is nearly half-complete, and she's such fun to work on. Blackberry Jam is getting closer to being finished, and Cat has some more progress!
  • October 30: Whoopsie - I haven't given an update in a while! I finished the cute Pumpkin Kitty, started and finished Gathering Pinecones, and have some new progress to report on the Summer Maiden. I also worked on Merrick, and his dolphin is complete.
  • October 9: Finally an update on Cat, and my newest start, Pumpkin Kitty.
  • September 30: A new month arriving tomorrow, and some new progress to share on the Unicorn Mystique. I don't think I'm going to set any goals for the month ahead as I continue to work on my physical therapy and getting well.
  • September 21: I've been working on another little project, Blackberry Jam
  • September 11: Another little happy dance for Harvest Time
  • September 5: A little happy dance for By the Sea Sampler
  • September 1: not a lot of progress going on at the moment because of some illness. Hopefully over the month of September I'll get to feeling much better and get back into the swing again!
  • August 13: I finished Mini Perle, and have just started Cat. And CATS Nashville is less than a week away!
  • August 1: And I met all my goals for July by about 4:00 in the afternoon yesterday, whew! Talk about coming down to the wire. But I felt really fabulous about it, especially now that I've done the StRIPping, and I only have 6 more blocks to quilt on Scott's Ships. Now, what would I like to achieve for August? I think I'll keep the list short, though not small in any sense.
  • August goals:
    • Finish the 13th round of my rotation (which means starting one new project, Cat (Candy) - Cat started August 8
    • Crochet 3 more squares on the 63 squares afghan
    • Finish the quilting and binding on Scott's Ships quilt
    • Knit on the kitty bed's side
  • July 26: I've done a little more StRIPping, though not by finishing more projects. I've removed some from my WIP list and remanded them to the UFO pile for now. I've also decided on Rotation Round 13 for August.
  • July 24: Once again, the month is flying by. I've nearly finished my rotation (round 12) with a little bit of progress on Fancy Pansy.
  • July 12: Mini Perle is over halfway done, and I've started working on Summer in the Maidens of the Seasons piece
  • July 7: Fantasy Sampler has a little more progress now
  • July 1: Halfway through 2005 already, my how the time flies.
  • This month, I plan to get the rest of the way through the 12th round of my rotation. I plan to work on Mini Perle, Fantasy Sampler, Merrick, Fancy Pansy, Maidens of the Seasons, and Unicorn Mystique. I think this should keep me busy for the month of July.
  • I'm really psyched that I'm now down to 24 cross stitch WIPs, halfway to my goal of 20 (started the year with 28), and yes, I still believe that I can achieve that goal, barring any unforeseen catastrophes.
  • July goals:
    • Finish the 12th round of my rotation YES!!!
    • Crochet 3 more squares on the 63 squares afghan YES!!!
    • Quilt five more blocks on Scott's Ships quilt YES!!!
    • Blanket stitch the final 5 of Teresa's basket blocks YES!!!
    • Knit on the kitty bed's side YES!!!
    • Pick out the yarn for Joe's crocheted hat YES!!!
  • June 27: And Trellis Sampler is now finished! I'm getting closer and closer to my goal of 20 WIPs by year-end.
  • June 24: Nova is finally finished!
  • June 20: Wow, 2/3 through the month? I'm still plugging away on Nova, hoping to finish it up this month (95% now!). Oh, and Merrick has a bit more progress from our Black Swan Designs SAL this weekend.
  • June 6: I've finally made it through this rotation now that I've finished up a round on Unicorn Mystique. The uni now has legs, but alas, no hooves yet. ;-)
  • June 1: Fancy Pansy has the beginnings of a flower on the right. I realized once again how much confetti stitching this design has - it's not as bad as some, but the few lone stitches here and there can be a little frustrating. It's probably why it doesn't seem like I got very much done this rotation.
  • June goals:
    • Crochet 3 more squares on the 63 squares afghan (YES - already achieved for this month!!!)
    • Quilt five more blocks on Scott's Ships quilt (YES!)
    • Blanket stitch the final 6 of Teresa's basket blocks (1 done)
    • Knit on the kitty bed's side
    • Finish Nova, and begin working on the 12th round of my rotation
  • May 23: Let's see, I've been working on Fantasy Sampler (just a little), Merrick, and the Spring Maiden is finished now, making Maidens of the Seasons 1/4 complete. I don't know that I'm going to reach all of my goals for this month...
  • May 10: Rows R and S are finished on Nova
  • May 7: Started Mini Perle with Melanie (stitch-along)
  • May 1: Late into the evening, I finished Sitting Pretty!
  • I've taken a look at my goals for last month, and I seem to be doing pretty good at achieving them. I didn't get a full 5 inches knitted on the kitty bed last month, so I'm revising that goal for this month.
  • Here is what I propose to strive for in May:
  • May goals:
    • Crochet 3 more squares on the 63 squares afghan
    • Quilt six more blocks on Scott's Ships quilt (5 done, didn't get to the sixth)
    • Seam the backing for Gerrick's quilt, and make sure I have the batting for it
    • Blanket stitch 6 more of Teresa's basket blocks
    • Knit on the kitty bed's side
    • Make it through the 11th round of my rotation (didn't quite make this one by the end of the month, but I'll finish it in June)
  • April 30: I've worked on Unicorn Mystique for the first time in a year and a half. Also, the Spring Maiden has some more progress!
  • April 20: Some more Trellis Sampler progress
  • April 18: I'd estimate that both Fantasy Sampler and Merrick are about 35% complete each.
  • April 11: Nova has another row - this time Q!
  • April 3: Snow Leopard is finished!!! And as a reward, I allowed myself to start a new small project, Sitting Pretty.
  • April 1: Wow, April already - and I'm almost finished with Snow Leopard. I've actually finished all of the cross stitching and started the backstitching, so stay tuned for a Happy Dance coming soon!
  • April goals:
    • Crochet 3 more squares on the 63 squares afghan
    • Quilt four more blocks on Scott's Ships quilt
    • Finish piecing Gerrick's quilt top
    • Blanket stitch 6 of Teresa's basket blocks
    • Knit at least 5 inches of the kitty bed's side [not quite... I did 3.5 for a total of 22.5 inches so far]
    • Make it through the 10th round of my rotation
    • Finish Snow Leopard
    • Celebrate the finish by allowing myself to start Sitting Pretty
  • March 25: A little girl dragon now has eyes (the better to see you with!) and some other features in Summer's Magic
  • March 20: Merrick almost has a complete right (his right, our left) sleeve. This was a great SAL weekend!
  • March 17: Fantasy Sampler has a bit more progress.
  • March 12: Spring Maiden is officially half-finished.
  • March 8: I've stitched Nova through Row P!
  • March 5: Snow Leopard has all his snow and leaves - now I just need to finish his left forearm and then add the backstitching and whiskers.
  • March 4: I've started and finished my bookmark, and it's SO pretty!
  • March 1: Still working on the Snow Leopard, have a Needle Necessities color picked out for a bookmark start (see goals, below), and trying to decide what to do with the rest of my career-life... (okay, so that's not really cross-stitch related, but I had to throw it in there).
  • March goals:
    • Crochet 3 more squares on the 63 squares afghan yes!
    • Quilt four more blocks on Scott's Ships quilt yep, done!
    • Knit at least 10 inches of the kitty bed's side not quite - I now have 19 inches knitted
    • Make it through the 9th round of my rotation yes, although Snow Leopard will bleed over a few days into April!
    • Only start 1 project - a bookmark from one of the new Knotwork Bookmarks books (TW Designworks) yes, and finished!
  • February 22: Quite a big update this time around (3-day weekends with stitch days are wonderful!). We had a Stitch-A-Long (SAL) for Black Swan Designs, so I had several people stitching along with me while I worked on Merrick this weekend. I also did a little more on Maidens, and I finally pulled out Summer's Magic again (nearly a year after our Myrtle Beach classes).
  • February 14: I've stitched a little more on Fantasy Sampler
  • February 6: I've stitched Row O on Nova - 68% complete now!
  • February 1: Just under the wire, I finished up my rotation with Snow Leopard last night.
  • February goals:
    • Crochet 3 more squares on the 63 squares afghan (4 done!)
    • Quilt four more blocks on Scott's Ships quilt (4 done!)
    • Finish piecing 5 more blocks on Teresa's quilt (blocks are pieced but the applique is not done)
    • Complete the 8th round of my rotation
    • Knit at least 10 inches of the kitty bed's side (10½ done!)
    • No new cross stitch starts for February
  • January 29: Smokey is finished!!!
  • January 19: Merrick is starting to show a dolphin
  • January 18: Maidens' spring maiden has a face
  • January 14: Fantasy Sampler has a lion's corner
  • January 9: I just finished up Row N on Nova, and so it is now 63% complete. If I can complete one row per month, I should finish it in September this year.
  • January 2: I've decided what my goals are to be for the month of January. I've looked at my overall goals for 2005, and I'd like to keep them in mind while I work on my goals month-to-month. I did pretty good last month, considering that I spontaneously added several knitted gifts to my to-do list. Over vacation and the holidays, I managed to achieve all of my goals for December.
  • January goals:
    • Start Maidens of the Seasons
    • Crochet 3 more squares on the 63 squares afghan
    • Quilt four blocks on Scott's Ships quilt
    • Complete the 7th round of my rotation
    • Knit some more on the kitty bed - finish the bottom part!
    • No more new cross stitch starts this month!
  • January 1, 2005: my first finish of 2005 is Butterfly Fantasy!
