2002 Cross Stitch Updates

  • December 30 - 10 more hours in this round on Legends of the Dragons, I have almost completed Majesty, except for the backstitching and the over-one word. Now I've started Pharaoh's Pet, so stay tuned for a progress picture on that one!
  • December 24 - I've finished up 10 hours on Joy, and have started working again on Legends of the Dragons. I've also been working on Amy Beth's quilt this week, and have passed another milestone - all of the blocks are completed, so now I've got to start sewing them together.
  • The Bride and the Shroom, from my friend MelanieAnd I just had to share this: my friend Melanie gave me a wonderful Christmas gift - she stitched The Bride and the Shroom (by Terrance Nolan) for CC and me. Click on the photo to see it enlarged.
  • December 15 - Another 10 hours in on the Oriental Butterfly, and now I'm on to Joy. I should finish the Oriental Butterfly when it comes up next in the rotation - I figure in about a month, maybe less.
  • December 9 - Yes, I have changed the order of my rotation, and I will be adding a couple of new projects (aack! I am truly insane! eek!). But I have changed my focus project to the Oriental Butterfly, and hopefully I will be through with it fairly soon, as well as the next couple of projects that I will be making my focus after it. I am finished with stitching gifts now, so I can get back to my rotation, finally!
  • December 4 - did I mention the fact that a bunch of us girls went on a big shopping trip to Clarksville in September? I finally got around to making a page about all of the new leaflets I bought! Maybe in a few months, I'll get around to telling you what I bought during December's madness! wink
  • December 1 - I've been working on a couple of Christmas projects and Amy Beth's Drunkard's Path Quilt this past week. After Christmas, I'll put a link up to a special project (so the person who is receiving it doesn't find out about it before then!). As soon as I finish these Christmas projects, I'm planning on going back to working on Magnificent Wizard. I may need to change my "focus" project. Embarrased icon
  • November 23 - Well, I have not been able to move on from stitching on Magnificent Wizard since I started it! I have 18.5 hours in so far, and it's really looking WONDERFUL! I have no idea how to fit it into my rotation, which has pretty much flown out the window for now. Maybe I have to start 3 more projects. little devil icon
  • November 10 - It seems like forever since I updated my site! I had a bout of being sick, started and finished another Christmas gift (Seeds of Knowledge), and bought a new project (Dimensions' Magnificent Wizard, gee thanks you TWBBer's who happened to mention it on the board I read Friday at lunch!), which I started today - whoops there goes the rotation! Rolling eyes Or, as my husband suggested, I might just add it in - we'll just have to see. I plan to put up a scan when I get a little more progress on it. I also visited my LNS Saturday to get started on framing a few of my finished pieces and intended Christmas gifts. I'm doing some, letting LNS do some others, so when I have some framed, I'll be sure to take some photos and put them online.
  • October 28 - Finished 7 hours on Cymberleah (didn't finish the entire 10 hours this time).
  • October 25 - 10 more hours on the Oriental Butterfly finished up tonight. It's starting to get really close to being done! And now it's time for my focus project again, which is also starting to get close to being done... Happy icon
  • October 18 - I've now worked my way through 10 hours on the Haunted House (it's just so cute!!!), not quite finished with the cross stitching, but I just had to put in some backstitching because I wanted to see it start to come to life. On to the Oriental Butterfly, with its awesome colors!
  • October 13 - Well, I actually did finish up my 10 hours on Royal, so I have a new progress picture to show. I've got 2 hours in on the Haunted House, the glow-in-the-dark kreiniks are neat, but like all blending filaments, I find them difficult to work with. Hopefully there will be a new progress scan of it soon!
  • October 11 - I started working on Royal (2 hours), but got diverted into completing another Christmas project, Bent Creek's Night Light (with major color modifications by me). I will go back to working on Royal, but I don't know if I can make it the full 10 hours through. I like it, it's pretty, but it's kind of boring to work on. We'll see how far I can make it before I throw in the towel and go on to Haunted House.
  • September 29 - now I've worked on my Snow Leopard for 10 additional hours. I've also been working on a couple of afghans and Amy Beth's quilt this week.
  • September 22 - I've finished another 10 hours on Cymberleah, finishing up the wolf and fox, leaves underneath the wolf, and the orange/tan part of the middle of her dress.
  • September 17 - Rotation change! Well, projects in the rotation, anyway. When the Mill Hill Beaded Tassel Ornament came up in the rotation, I honestly thought it might take me the 10 hours to finish it. So much for my estimates - it took only about 3.5 hours to completely finish. So, since I finished a project in the rotation, I decided to fill that spot with Fancy Pansy by The Silver Lining (and of course, I had to start it right then and there.
  • September 15 - I just finished up my 10 hours on Dragon Ride (taking a break within the 10 hours to start and finish Just Nan's Be Scary (finished on the 13th). Now I get to work on my Mill Hill ornament, and hopefully I will finish it up with this 10 hours in the rotation!
  • September 4 - If you'd like to see one of the biggest projects I'm working on now, take a look at my Quilts page. Amy Beth's Drunkard's path quilt is a huge work in progress. And I am playing around with several different arrangements of the squares (the drunkard's path block layout is the same throughout).
  • September 1 - Ixlandia's got 10 hours in now, and Celestial Dragon has another 10 in now. This Labor day weekend, I've worked on CD, a crocheted afghan project, and now I'm working on Dragon Ride.
  • August 25 - Another 10 hours in on Cymberleah - now the wolf is almost done (a few stitches more next time and he will be!). My fabric order FINALLY came in, so I'll be starting Ixlandia over tonight.
  • August 18 - An August Happy Dance can be seen in my Finished Cross Stitch, with Castle Heights Military Academy! I've also finished my 10 hours on Pageant Kings. Time again for Cymberleah!
  • August 9 - Finished 10 hours on Mother's Arms, working mostly on the baby's blanket. Wow, I can't believe I'm actually 2/3 of the way through my rotation!
  • August 4 - Finished my 10 hours on Fantasy Sampler, the innermost border is almost complete.
  • August 1 - Finished up my 10 hours on Unicorn Mystique. He has a pretty horsey head now!
  • July 28 - Finished my 10 hours rather quickly on Cymberleah, my focus project. On to Unicorn Mystique - maybe it will start to look a little more like a unicorn than a blob of gray...
  • July 26 - Finished my 10 hours on The Guardian. I've decided to alter my rotation just a bit and have a "focus project" which I will work on after every 4th project in the rotation. Cymberleah will be my first focus project, so I'm off to work on her this weekend!
  • July 20 - Finished my 10 hours on Magical Night. My friend Melanie is also doing this one, and we had another mini-stitch-along. See Melanie's Magical Night.
  • July 15 - Finished my 10 hours on Storyteller pretty darn quick! My friend Melanie is also stitching this one, and we stitched had a mini-stitch-along. See Melanie's Storyteller.
  • July 12 - we have just come back from vacation in Florida and the Bahamas, and of course, I had to take some stitching along. (wink) So, instead of doing something in the rotation, I decided to take a small quick project - one of the Bent Creek's I'm doing for the kids for Christmas. This time I started and finished Hip Hop, probably about 15 hours worth of stitching, some while we visited friends in Florida, the rest while we watched Lord of the Rings on the Carnival Cruise ship, Fantasy (here's one photo of us on vacation - it may be a little while before I get the rest up). I'll be getting back to the rotation with Storyteller starting today (we're still on vacation until Monday!)
  • July 1 - 10 hours of stitching complete on the new Dragon Heart, thanks to a stitch day on Saturday and some more stitching Sunday and Monday night. The top left border is shaping up well (gads, I'm working on a border before getting into the draggies?). Hopefully I won't have anywhere near the problems I had before with froggies (rip-it, rip-it!).
  • June 28 - I have finished 10 hours on Enchanter, pretty fire-lizard coming to life! And just today, my new Dragon Heart pattern came in. Check out the new fabric I got to start it on... (little devil icon)
  • June 23 - Well, I started to work on my 10 hours of Dragon Heart, and got about an hour in when I realized that, once again, I've completely miscounted and mis-stitched. I've done more ripping on DH than I care to remember, plus I started it on fabric which is really too small (it only leaves about 1" all the way around"), so I've come to the difficult decision to stop working on it and start over. I'll have to go get more fabric, hopefully this week, so I can work DH back into the rotation, but for now, I'm going on to Teresa Wentzler's Enchanter.
  • June 21 - I've completed my 10 hours on Lucien - it took me a little longer than anticipated because I got a bad case of poison ivy on my arms and just haven't had much chance to work on him this week. Now he's up to about 40 hours total. Well, I'm off to start my 10 hours on Dragon Heart!
  • June 16 - So far, so good on the rotation system. I completed my 10 hours on Merrick and Cat Eyes, and have just started my 10 hours on Lucien. I've really missed working on these projects, so I'm really enjoying the rotation system so far! Saturday night we had a midnight Sit n Stitch, which was a lot of fun - I took a few pictures, so you can see what you missed if you couldn't join us. I also worked on Amy Beth's quilt a little Friday night, and did some major shopping at JoAnn's Friday and Saturday - got a whole bunch of new fabric, some new floss for another project(!), and some new scissors for when I begin a hardanger project.
  • June 9 - Last week, I worked a bit on a crochet project (a gift for a friend), a little more on Fantastic Fall Bouquet (but have no updated pic since last week), did a little more piecing on Amy Beth's quilt, and Thursday I re-started Sister Bears. I now have 10 hours into it, and a new progress pic. Saturday I worked on the WIP which I haven't worked on in the longest time (since August 2000!), Merrick. I have about 8.5 hours into him this time, and when I get 10 hours, I will get a new progress pic up - he has a face and beard now! I have decided to try the 10 hour rotation system, and I'm going by what I haven't worked on for the longest period of time as my guide for beginning the rotation system. So up next will be either Cat Eyes (needlepoint) or Lucien. I am not counting either of the crochet or quilt projects in this rotation - it will be strictly for needlepoint or cross stitch. Fingers crossed that this will work for me. Oh, and I almost forgot, I've also worked on Gothic Castle some, just mostly at work, but also last weekend - Sunday. I have a new progress pic up of it too.
  • June 2 - I've worked on a couple of different projects this week. Over the Memorial Day weekend, I worked quite a bit on Fantastic Fall Bouquet. Tuesday and today I worked on Nova, stitching 6 new squares, Wednesday I worked on a crochet project, and Thursday and Saturday I worked on Legends of the Dragons. Sunday I also framed Casey's #7 Sirius Dodge!
  • May 24 - I haven't been cross stitching as much the past week, but I have worked a little more on Star Maiden, and have finished up the signature on Casey's car. I'm going to go now and work on Fantastic Fall Bouquet. Check back after the Memorial Day weekend for some new progress pics on that project, and who knows what else!
  • May 19 - I have a new progress picture of Star Maiden (finally got my KVM device so I can use both of my pc's with only one monitor, mouse and keyboard, so I can finally use my scanner again!). I've also worked on Casey's car, and I've finished the car, but I still have the signature to stitch. I continue to work on some of my crochet projects, and went to a computer show and a bead show this weekend. I ended up with the CUTEST cat-head beads!
  • May 15 - I completed, in 3 non-consecutive days, a Mill Hill Treasured Beaded Sampler - Blue Twilight. Lately I've been working on Star Maiden, but don't have a recent pic - I'll get one up this weekend. I've also been working on some crochet and quilt projects, and hope to get some more info up on those soon.
  • May 5 - This week I've been working on Guardian Angel. I finally stitched her head, so she's no longer known as the headless angel! I also gave the little baby some eyes and a mouth and hands. I also started a Mill Hill kit I bought at my LNS a few weeks ago, but don't have enough progress to share yet - maybe tomorrow!
  • Tuesday, April 30, I worked on Cymberleah's wolf a little bit.
  • Monday, April 29, I worked on Haunted House and Oriental Butterfly a bit. I stitched some of the porch railing on Haunted House and the coin and upper background on Oriental Butterfly.
  • Sunday, April 28, I worked on Fantastic Fall Bouquet. I stitched another pink flower near the top of the design.
  • Saturday, April 27, I worked on Legends of the Dragons. I finished stitching the border, and started backstitching it, as well as started stitching the first dragon, Majesty.
  • Friday, April 26, I worked on Casey's #7 Sirius Dodge and Oriental Butterfly.
  • Thursday, April 25, I went to the AQS Quilt Show in Paducah, KY.
