Winter Night Quilt
Here is the start of piecing the first block. The quilt is made up of two blocks, and because of the way this quilt is laid out, it's like they are interlocking, which, of course, requires planning on my part.

From an issue of Quilt It for Christmas magazine. The blocks were originally 9" for a 54" x 54" square quilt, and I decided to resize them up to 12" blocks to make it a little bigger. It won't be exactly like this (some values may be a little different), but I'm pretty much sticking to the pattern.

The photo above is my progress as of June 26. I decided to take some vacation time off from work the rest of this week to work on this quilt and play with my new Wii. And here is the progress I made on Wednesday, June 27.

June 30: It may not seem as if there is much progress from the last photo to the next, but I have now completed all 5 rows of for this quilt. I haven't yet sewn the rows to each other, but I almost have all of the pieces for this quilt, including the borders, assembled. A couple of notes for this photo - The bottom row is currently pinned on top of the fourth row, because I didn't start pinning the first blocks high enough on my design wall. I fixed the middle and last block on the second row - the bottom row of squares was going in the wrong direction. I'm so glad I caught that when I did! I pinned the right and left outer borders, but not the top or bottom, just to get an idea of how it is going to look with those fabrics

This is one of the border blocks - looking a lot bigger in comparison than it actually is. This block will finish 4" square. Those are some tiny triangles! I still have 6 more of these little blocks to finish before I can complete the border assembly.
July 11: The quilt top is finished! I will be dropping it off at the quilt shop for quilting on Saturday.

August 4: I got the call that the quilt was ready to pick up, and since we were already out running around, we decided to go ahead and get it.
August 5: The binding is cut, assembled, and attached to the front of the quilt, and now I just have to hand-sew it to the back.
August 11: Finished!
