Gerrick's Aquarium
The finished quilt, February 26, 2006

November 13, 2005: The layers are basted, let the quilting begin!!! (I actually quilted 2 blocks today - it's a very simple pattern, two concentric squares, about ¼ inch apart, within each colored 'border' portion of the block, similar to the white lines in the picture below.

May 29, 2005: The backing is seamed, and the batting has been purchased.
April 9, 2005: And the quilt top is finally pieced together, including the border!

March 27, 2005: I've been a piecing fool this weekend!
Here
are the rows, waiting on my ironing board to be sewn together. I really think
this is going to
be a CUTE quilt!

March 25, 2005: I decided to go with Idea #1 (see below), black sashing. And this is the fabric I found at Joann's

March 23, 2005: Last night I pulled some fabrics from my stash and began planning what quilting design I wanted to create for my youngest nephew, Gerrick. I can't remember where in the world I got this fabric - it might have come from a trip that Sallie, Faye, and Vicki took one weekend to North Carolina (Sallie picked up some great kitty fabrics for me, as well as a couple of other prints).

Inspiration
The fish fabric was my inspiration piece - I think this is a little washed out, but it shows off some of the fishies pretty well.
Then I pulled out all my tone-on-tone pattern fabrics (of the same pattern) that I purchased at a fabric sale at JoAnn's Fabrics probably over a year ago.
Here is one example:
I ran across another fabric I thought would also help tie it together, a really neat striped fabric:
Idea #1, with black sashing
Idea #2 - use the darker blue fabric for the
sashing, eliminating it from the blocks
