Delaney's Snow Puzzle Quilt

January 4, 2008: I made a test block some time ago, and decided to try again. The picture below shows my first test block (along with the topstitching that will need to be done on the block) underneath the one I made a couple of days ago. I'm still trying to decide whether the topstitching should be done before assembly or at the same time as the quilting. I haven't made up my mind, but I'll be poring over all the pros and cons over the next few days and weeks. It's going to be yummy to work on because of all those Fairy Frost collection fabrics. I think I've praised the Michael Miller line of fabrics before - they include my Cocoa Bling Kitty fabric. :)

January 22: I've made up my mind regarding the topstitching - I'm going to do it before the quilt is assembled. I think it would just be too hard to do it in the quilting phase. So today, I cut out a few more pieces and assembled them.

Here is a block pinned for the topstitching

This picture shows the various stages of making the blocks. Left, the small pieces are attached to the larger piece. Middle, I've finished the attachments, and opened up the block. Right, I've pinned the center of each side of the colored fabrics and stitched down the bias edges into curves.
Stages in making the blocks

March 1, 2008: This picture shows the colors of blocks I've created thus far. Obviously, I'm only in second stage of some of the blocks, while others are complete.
