My Cottage Garden Bullseye Quilt

April 25, 2004: It's FINISHED!!!!!!!!!!! I had a long weekend and utilized it to finish up the connection of all of the segments, and then bound it this morning.

Candy was helping me take a picture by diving underneath
completely constructed, not bound yet

Here is the backing - lime green plaid and teddy bears
(hey, it's my quilt, I can do whatever I want, right?)

And, I present the finished quilt!

Finished!

April 3, 2004: I finished up all of the quilting on the 12 4-block segments! I hope to be able to connect these all together and bind my quilt before Paducah this year (we're planning to go on the 22nd).

January 31, 2004: I have now quilted about 40% of this quilt.

January 21, 2004: Quilting has begun! I've decided to try quilting with the quilt-as-I-go method. Here is the first one done! I am machine quilting in a spiral pattern (you might be able to see a little bit of that from the photo). Once I get all the segments quilted, then I will connect them all together. This is a new technique for me, one which I'm contemplating using on my brother's quilt, so I wanted to try it out on my little personal quilt before I jumped big-time into his.

Quilting the 4-block segments

January 18, 2004: I pieced the rest of the blocks, cut them into quarters, rearranged them, and sewed them back together:

December 21, 2003: I have pieced about 75% of the blocks. Here are a few of them on my wall:

November 11, 2003: started piecing a couple of the blocks - this is very different for me because it is freeform, and doesn't require that the pieces be perfectly round. I'm usually very critical if things aren't close to perfect, so I'm trying very hard to go with the flow. LOL!!!!

3 blocks - piecing started

November 8-9, 2003: finished cutting my fabrics
November 4, 2003: cut some of the fabrics

These fabrics are most of what I'll be using in the quilt.
I've chosen a couple of others also, but in these same color families.

When we went to the 2003 AQS quilt show in Paducah, I saw one of these quilts in the cottage garden colors in a vendor's booth and fell in love immediately. I purchased the book, Quilts from Aunt Amy, from another vendor (the one with the example quilt was sold out!!!), and then found the fabrics I wanted to use at Hancock's of Paducah.
