Living Room

Before

After
Well, here's part of the living room, looking towards the master bedroom. We've got the same kind of thing going on here as in the bedroom with the dingy walls, etc. The carpet is also badly in need of some attention by a professional cleaner.
This room starts out about the same as the master bedroom, with white/off-white walls, very dingy. It's a little bit bigger than the bedroom, probably 14x15 or 15x15. It doesn't look too terribly bad in the picture above, but let's look at it from another angle (the dining room). We removed the curtains that came with the house, and replaced the mini-blinds. We also painted the room, trim, and doors, which badly needed it.

Check out this coffee table - I got it at a church bazaar for $4. I stripped and sanded it, and my dad painted it for me. He also put in the blue tile I picked up at Lowe's or Home Depot, and put a border of maize-colored tile around it. It's just the best little table!
Over the weekend of April 6, 2000, my dad and brother put tile in the living room from the entryway along the back of the couch. It really makes a difference, and separates the entry from the rest of the living room. I also put up some family photos I've been meaning to put up for a while, but didn't have the frames to do it until that weekend. Things just keep coming together, little by little.

Christmas time: Mom to the rescue! This is the beautiful swag she made for our living room (I put it above the entrance to the dining room). I think the colors are absolutely perfect. She has also made a couple of other swags that I can change out with the seasons, one using the silk pansies that she used to make all of the arrangements for our wedding reception!
July 2005 - Hardwood Bamboo flooring installation!

Preparing the floor with urethane-glue

Day 1, nearly all finished in the living room

Working their way down the hallway

Smokey seems to like it

Living room is now complete except for shoe molding

And so is the hallway!

Hallway finished with shoe molding

Looking from the dining room into the living room

This view is from standing at the master bedroom door, looking out just a
smidge to the left.

Looking from the same spot, but now to the right a bit

And looking farther to the right, to the little corner of the living room.
I can't believe it's finished, and it looks fantastic!
