Games
I love games. I don't play them as often as I would like because of all my other hobbies, but I do enjoy playing all sorts of games - card games, board games, and console (it all started for me with my brother's Atari 2600) games on the PSOne and PS2.
Card games
I enjoy Solitaire - and the many forms of it on the computer. But I really enjoy two-or-more-player games. When I was growing up, my best friend Allison and I would play all sorts of card games at her house - we would even play Spades with her dad and his friends when they came over. Carolynne and I used to play Gin Rummy at lunch when we worked at the library together. We had a couple of great UNO tournaments at my house on Game Night a couple of years ago. I rarely play poker games, but enjoy Hearts, Spades, and even Old Maid and Go Fish!
Board games
My brother and I played a lot of board games when we were growing up. A lot of times we made up our own rules, but I don't remember fighting too much about them (we fought about a lot of other things, but not really about the games) - Monopoly was one of our favorites, as was Mousetrap, Operation, and Battleship. I loved playing Sorry, Yahtzee, and Payday, but didn't learn how to play Chess or Backgammon until a few years ago.
Computer games
Mostly, the computer games I play include board and card games from Hoyle and one of my most recent favorites, MahJongg. I also enjoyed playing around with the old text adventure game, Zork I: The Underground Empire, after my friend Jeffrey introduced it to me when we both worked at the library. It really makes you think!
Console games
As I said above, it all started for me with that Atari 2600 my brother had. I loved playing PacMan, BurgerTime, QBert, Pitfall, and a whole host of others. I bought a PSOne in 1998, and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night to play on it. It is the most awesome game. CC and I have both played through it several times. We were hoping for a worthy sequel for the PS2, but it does not seem like that will come to pass. But the really cool thing, for me at least, is that they are still developing awesome 2D Castlevania games for the Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS (which will play GBA games). And even better - just this year (2006) I bought a GameCube and a Gameboy Player, so I can play all of my Gameboy and Gameboy Advance games on my television screen!
