Knitting projects - my fourth pair of socks

After I finished my third pair of socks in December 2008, I decided to try to make two at the same time. I bought a book that described the technique, 2 pairs of circular needles, and some new sock yarn. I got the ribbing started and promptly moved on to something else. I forgot to take a picture of my progress at that point.

October 2009, I picked them back up and tried to figure out where I'd left off. Fortunately, I was able to, and I worked my way down the sock a bit. I'm about halfway down the heel flaps of each. And here's finally a photo of my progress. It's kind of neat to be doing both of them at the same time, so I won't have SSS (second sock syndrome), but it can be a bit confusing and unwieldy with the two (different-sized, for a reason) pairs of circular needles.

Knitting two socks at a time

Since it took me at least 30 minutes each time I picked the socks back up to figure out where I was and what to do, and the multiple long needles were a real pain to try to work around and with, I decided to purchase two pairs of size 5 dpns and knit these at the same time but separately after all. The 2-at-a-time on the same needles just didn't work for me. Here they are finished, about 2 years after they were started (a record I don't want to repeat!), and I think I'm going to give them to my mother for Christmas this year, since they aren't made of wool.
